Richard M. Treco

Richard Mitchell Treco, Age 97, longtime resident of Fairfield, passed away peacefully on Sunday April 22, 2018. Richard was born on April 10, 1921 in Dorchester, MA to Rhea (Dodds) Treco and Richard Mitchell Treco Sr. and was the eldest of 5 children including Lorraine, Ruth, Rosalie, and Roberta. Richard graduated from Lehigh University with a Bachelors of Science in Engineering (Metallurgy) and then went on to work for the U.S. Government during WWII, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Bridgeport Brass Company, Olin and American Can Company. Richard loved spending time with family and friends, and stayed active with his numerous hobbies, which included working on the computer, reading, playing the organ, woodworking, astrology and tinkering with everything around the house. He is pre-deceased by his parents Rhea and Richard, sister June, and his two wives, Helen and Boguslawa. Richard is survived by his sisters Lorraine, Ruth and Roberta, his daughters Sherry and Valerie, her husband Jason, and their daughter Riley, as well as extended family. Friends may greet his family on Wednesday April 25, 2018 from 5pm to 8pm at the Spear Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road in Fairfield. Burial will be held privately at Oaklawn Cemetery in Fairfield on Thursday morning. In lieu of flowers his family requests donations to be made to the American Red Cross in Richard’s honor.
