Nancy Nielsen

Nancy L. Sabia Nielsen, age 86 of Fairfield, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Cambridge Manor in Fairfield. Born in Fairfield the daughter of the late Frederick and Grace Hull, she had been a lifelong area resident. She graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School and St. Vincent's School of Nursing in 1950. Nancy worked for many years as a nurse at St. Vincent's Medical Center as well as for private physician's offices and served as the nurse at Sherwood Island State Park. She was a member of the Fayerweather Yacht Club Auxiliary and the NCRA (Nutmeg Citizens Radio Assoc.) where she served as an officer. Nancy loved to fish, gardening and sewing and related crafts where she had a talent for fine details. She was a devout New York Giants football fan. She loved animals of all kinds, particularly cats. Nancy is survived by her oldest son, Michael F. Sabia of Easton and his children, Michael F. Sabia, Jr. and his wife Samantha, and his two daughters Michelle A. Roszkowski and her husband Joseph, and Maureen K. Sabia. She is also survived by her daughter Marjory G. Kabureck and her husband Gary of London, England and their children Christopher M. Kabureck and Kerianne E. Kabureck and by her youngest son Mark R. Sabia and his wife Susan of Fairfield and their children, Joseph R. Sabia and Samantha M. Sabia; and two great grandsons. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald W. Nielsen. Friends may greet the family Friday, June 23, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. A prayer service will conclude the visitation. Interment will be private in Lawncroft Cemetery.
