Matthew Paul McGuire

Matthew Paul McGuire, age 61 of Wilton, beloved husband and best friend of Mary Ellen (Marcheggiani) McGuire, passed away Monday, March 26, 2018 in his home. Born in Wilmington, DE, the son of the late George and Dorothy McGuire, he was raised in Westport and lived in Ridgefield and Wilton. Matthew graduated from Staples High School and Boston College. An avid Soccer player, he played on the state championship team at Staples and for B.C. Matthew coached little league baseball and youth soccer. He loved horseback riding, spending time at the beach, sailing, reading, playing paddle tennis with his buddies at Longshore and traveling, but above all else, Matthew loved spending time with his love, Mary Ellen. Survivors in addition to his loving wife include four beloved siblings, Mark McGuire and his wife Debbie of Southport, Giselle Hauser and her husband Robert of Fairfield, Megan McGuire of Boston, MA and Ann Wortman and her husband John of Groton, MA; and several loving nieces and nephews. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at a later date. 1. Though I do not know your loved one, I am touched by your loss. So I extend my heartfelt condolences for the loss of your beloved, Matthew. Please know that Jehovah God and his son Jesus Christ is aware of your pain and they care for you. (2 Corinthians 1:3,4) . I hope that you are able to find some comfort in God’s promise of paradise where there will be no more pain and sorrow (Revelation 21:4,5)  and the many wonderful  memories of your loved one becoming a reality in the future resurrection in paradise.  (Acts 24:15). Please accept my sincere condolences.

  2. I was lucky enough to go to Staples and BC with Matt, or Duke or Little Duker as he was known then. We had many adventures together at that age when those kinds of adventures are appropriate. He was brave. He was a great athlete. And he was great fun to hang out with. He was one of a kind and in that sense irreplaceable. So sorry to hear of his passing. Condolences to his wonderful brothers and sisters and to his lovely wife. I hope all the good times you had with Matt will make this difficult time easier somehow.

  3. Mary Ellen: I’m so sorry for you loss. Matt’s smiling face will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.
