Lois E. McLevy

Lois E. (Grieger) McLevy, born July 18, 1922, daughter of Thomas and Ethel (Hanford) Grieger was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, previously deceased by husband Robert J. McLevy Sr. 1915-1984. Her family and friends benefitted from her caring nature, always putting others’ needs and concerns before her own. She was born and lived in Fairfield, CT for 73 years, then moving to Sterling, CT and finally Creamery Brook Senior community in Brooklyn, CT. Her life included traveling from her parents’ farm to work as a professional artist in New York City. She returned to work in the Fairfield building department during WWII and met and married her husband, Robert in 1948. Their mutual love and devotion included raising two sons, Robert Jr. and Roy and contributed to their marriages (Robert to Susan and Roy to Diane), resulting in five grandchildren, Jill (Shamback), Jason, Alan, Ian and Colin and four great-grandchildren, Charlie, Emily, Weston and Lorelei. She adored her grandchildren and was joyful in supporting and spoiling them with delicious food and shopping trips at any opportunity. At the same time she instilled common sense and confidence as they matured. Writing poetry, growing flowers and her artistic talents helped to foster love throughout her life. Her wishes were for a quiet, graveside family funeral. May God Bless Her!

1 Guestbook Entry for Lois E. (Grieger) McLevy

  1. Lois Grieger was a dear childhood friend of my late mother, Virginia Novenski Pawlowski, when they were both growing up in what was then very rural Fairfield CT, where my grandfather had a family farm on Judd St. My mother often spoke of those happy times and of Lois, including how Lois’s father got mad at Bob McLevy once because he impetuously drove his car across the Grieger’s lawn! Lois was in my parents’ wedding on June 2, 1951. May our Moms both be looking down together in peace from heaven. Regards.
