Kathy M. O'Day

Kathy O’Day, long time resident of Fairfield, CT, unexpectedly passed away on February 20, 2019 at the age of 60 due to complications after suffering a brain aneurysm. Kathy is survived by her sister Joan (Frank) Martino of Norfolk, MA; her children Bradley, Bryan and Brittany Coutermash; her fiancé James Orosz and her niece Abby (Tyler) Hewitt of Marion, IN. Kathy was born on April 1, 1958 in Illinois to Joseph and Marie O’Day. She graduated from New Canaan High School in 1976. Kathy spent much of her early adult life as a stay-at-home mom and later went on to be the office manager for Marquee Pools & Service for the past two decades. Kathy was a devoted mother and avid dog lover. Those who had the pleasure of meeting Kathy know just how loving, generous, compassionate and comical of a person she was. She had many different breeds of dogs throughout her life before discovering the poodle breed in 2004. Kathy instantly fell in love with the breed. She would slowly progress into grooming and eventually go on to have one of her poodle’s (Gordon) compete and earn the title of Grand Champion. A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, March 2, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. A prayer service will be held at 3:30 p.m. officiated by the Rev. Victor Martin. In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be made to The Brain Aneurysm Foundation, globally recognized leader in brain aneurysm awareness, education, support, advocacy and research funding. 9. My condolences to Jimmy and to Kathy’s children. I was broken hearted to hear about Kathy. We have been friends since high school and she was a truly caring and nurturing person. I was lucky to call her my friend. Even though we didn’t see each other often, when we did get together we were still the same close friends we have always been. Kathy had such a gift for making others feel good about themselves. She could always make me laugh. That is my best memory of her. I will truly miss her.

  16. I just found out about Kathy , I’m in shock. I’ve known her for 23 yrs and considered her one of my dearest friends even tho we never actually met in person . I so looked forward to our “chats” .We talked @ everything from kids, animals and work ,our most quoted phrase every March ” I hate the pool business” , to family and lifes’ ups and downs. No one could be more blunt, honest, funny or caring. Every year we would say we were going to get together for a few drinks and then the season started and we were both too busy. I’ll regret that forever. My deepest condolences to her family, fiancé and Jim and her Marquee Family. You all lost a truly amazing person, loyal employee, loving mother and dear friend, she was a force to be reckoned with! Kathy, I’ll be toasting to you on Sunday. God speed
