Kathryn Clarkson

Kathryn Clarkson (Hooper), 66, of Fairfield, CT, passed away peacefully in her home Nov. 9, with her husband holding her hand and surrounded by those whom she loved.
Kathryn was born in Vermont and moved to NYC in 1972. She loved the City where she worked as a nanny, a shoe sales associate in the World Trade Center, a bartender in the Village and finally as a Media Director of an ad agency. It was in the City where she met Sandy and it was love at first sight for both. They moved to Fairfield to raise Caitlin, Brendan and Amanda. Kathryn loved being a mother and was a second mother to her children’s friends and all the neighborhood kids. Throughout her life, she selflessly put her needs behind everyone else’s. Even as her illness limited her mobility, she touched those with whom she came into contact. Over the last four years, she developed a special relationship with her granddaughter, Parker, and she took great joy in knowing her daughter Amanda is expecting a baby girl this Christmas.
Kathryn loved family time, craft projects, watching movies with family and friends, the holidays, giving gifts, fostering kittens, visiting family in Vermont, vacations in Cape Cod, trips to Watch Hill, Florida and Jamaica, and walking on the beach holding hands with her kids and Sandy.
Kathryn is survived by her husband Sandy, her children Caitlin Clarkson Pereira and Matthew Pereira, Brendan, and Amanda Lacasky and husband Dan, her granddaughter Parker, and her siblings Cheryl Hooper, Greg Hooper and wife Susan, Pat Lintereur and husband Jim, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She joins her loving parents, Guy and Betty. She will be missed greatly.
Visiting hours are at Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield on Sat. November 17th from 3:00-6:00 p.m. with a memorial service on Sunday November 18th at 3:00 p.m. at First Church Congregational in Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Operation Hope in Fairfield.

  1. So sorry to hear about Kathy. She was the best baby-sitter (that was before she was a nanny) for our kids in South Burlington and we all loved her.

  2. Sandy & family,
Dom & I are so sorry to hear of Kathryn’s passing. She was a wonderful lady that I have and will never forget. Life has a way of dealing us cards that we will never know the outcome. So happy our lives crossed. RIP Kathryn 😘

  3. Kathryn always had room at her table for one more. Welcoming someone into her home, be it a new friend or old, was just something that Kathryn did. Not because she was taught, but rather because that’s who she wanted to be. In recent years I had the unique opportunity to be that extra person at the table. Whether it was at an actual table eating turkey sandwiches, or singing along to show tunes while cleaning the kitchen, or having another endless conversation about my cat, I could could count on Kathryn to be my veterinary advisor, my sounding board, my Jiminy Cricket, my confidant, or my partner in crime…whatever it was that I needed from her that day. I sometimes wonder about why certain people come into our lives but with Kathryn I know why,It was to make me be a better person. Simply put, my life is better because of Kathryn and I will miss my friend. Much love to the Clarkson family. Robbie

  4. I was so very sorry to see that Kathryn had passed away. I met her back in 1987/88, when I was an Aerobics Instructor at Fitness Unlimited in Fairfield and Kathryn attended my classes. My sincere condolences to her family and friends. I did babysit a couple of times at the house on Shoreham Village, but it was a very long time ago. So sorry to have lost touch. Prayers for your strength and much love from friends and family to see you through this difficult time. ❤💔❤

  5. Dear Caitlin, Matthew and family. I was so sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. I enjoyed talking with her at your wedding and will never forget how gracious she was and such a strong woman. I know where you come from Caitlin. I will not be able to join you for her services but will be thinking of all of you during these difficult days. Time and only time will turn your sorrow into very fond memories.
    God bless.
