Donald F. Provolo

Donald F. Provolo, 88, of Fairfield passed away peacefully Saturday at his home in the presence of his loving family. Born in Bridgeport, the son of the late John and Josephine Provolo, he was a Fairfield resident for 60 years. Don was a veteran of the Korean War, serving as a corporal in the Army Corps of Engineers for which he was awarded the Commendation Ribbon for Meritorious Achievement. He prospered in a long career as a plastics engineer and a professional drummer, with a passion for jazz. A devout catholic, Don was a communicant of Holy Family Church, where he served for many years as an usher. After retiring, Don enjoyed playing golf, tending to his garden, and could be seen around the neighborhood on his daily walks, which were frequently followed by a cold, dry martini.

Don is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Anna Maier Provolo; daughter, Donna (Brian) Fico of Cheshire; sons, Daniel (Debra) Provolo of Barrington, RI; David (Melanie) Provolo of Guilford; grandchildren, Jennifer (Mitchel) Voyer of Johnston, RI; Kristina Fico of Franklin Park, NJ; Ross Provolo of Boston, MA; Conner Provolo of Barrington, RI; Natalia, Ava and Elle Provolo of Guilford. He is also survived by his sister Gloria (Louis) Fico of Cheshire and many nieces and nephews. Don is predeceased by his sisters Alice Supersano and Dorothy Provolo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday March 27, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 700 Old Stratfield Road, Fairfield. Interment with military honors will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery. Friends may greet the family Monday (Today) from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
