Dennis "Skin" Sean Prendergast

Dennis “Skin” Sean Prendergast, age 63 of Fairfield, left this world to sail on bigger seas the evening of August 21, 2020 as the sun was setting, surrounded by loved ones. Born to John “Jack” and Marie (Judge) Prendergast in Easton, PA in 1956, Dennis and his family moved to Fairfield where he attended St. Thomas Aquinas School. He graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School, class of 1975, where he was a star baseball athlete. Dennis worked for 30 years as a Project Manager for CHE Mechanical Heating and Air Conditioning. He is loved and revered by hundreds, and probably feared by a few. He was the steady rock; the one who knew what to say, what song to play, and never forgot a birthday. Dennis was a lifelong Boston Red Sox and New York Jets fan through thick and thin. He loved boating, playing golf, and was a long time member of the Fairfield Bocce League. He tipped generously, lived wholeheartedly, and loved unconditionally; not only to his family, but his kindness extended through to friends and neighbors alike. To know him was to love him; it is an understatement to say he will be missed. In addition to his loving companion of 26 years, Paddie Sullivan, Dennis is survived by three loving daughters; Tara Prendergast of Anoka, MN, Jillian Prendergast of Santa Fe, NM, and Lily O’Donnell of Milford; two cherished grandsons, Duncan Thomas Clark and Sawyer Jack Clark of Anoka, MN; as well as two brothers, James Prendergast of Bridgeport and Kevin Prendergast (Patricia) of Old Saybrook. He is also survived by a niece and two nephews, Sarah, Daniel, and Thomas Prendergast of Old Saybrook; many legendary Minooka/Scranton cousins and extended family; as well as so many treasured friends that became family including his lifelong best friend “Sully” and Sully’s adoring family. In addition to his parents Jack and Marie, Dennis is predeceased by his sister Noreen Prendergast; and a crew of great friends to welcome him to the beaches of heaven. Due to current conditions and restrictions on gatherings, a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. 1. Oh, what can you say about Dennis ? He was funny, intelligent, gregarious and witty; expansive, compassionate and kind.
Between those blue, blue eyes and his crackling wit, Dennis could really light up a room.
Heaven got a little brighter and Earth lost a bit of its shine when Dennis left.
Wishing his loved ones peace and light.

  2. I can honestly say that I don’t think I’ve ever ever run into Dennis and him not having a smile on his face which is how he greeted any and every not that had the pleasure of being in his presence ❤️

  3. Dennis had such a huge heart. He had a way of making you feel special. I miss his endearing laugh and the way he could see humor in most things. So lucky to call him my cousin.
Rest peacefully, Dennis. I love you.

  4. Dennis, my eyes will always know your eyes, my smile your smile, my heart your heart. Our journey together was short yet lifelong, continued through the lives of our beautiful daughters. Keep watch over us from above, love Nay

  6. I still can’t believe I won’t run into him again. It makes me so sad. Den was the real deal, nice guy, had your back. I miss him already. Just knowing he was in this world, was a gift and he made it that much better. He was a gift to so many, I feel fortunate enough to call him my friend of so many great years.

My sincere condolences to Paddie and the Pendergast clan in Ct. and Pa. To his sweet girls, know that he loved more than anything in this world. He beamed when he spoke of you girls, he was so proud of you all. xo k

  7. To Skin and his family, my deepest sympathy and prayers go to you. Skin, you were one of the nicest guys I knew, didn’t matter what group you hung out with or who you were or how long it had been since we last saw each other, you were always a great guy. I will also never forget the Fairfield Department Store Little league team and going up to the farm in Vermont!
