Arthur Rotunda

Arthur Rotunda, age 85, of Fairfield, beloved husband of 63 years of Janet (Kundert) Rotunda, passed away peacefully Monday, February 18, 2018 at Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Bridgeport, the son of the late Arthur J. and Regina Rotunda, he had been a lifelong Fairfield resident. He attended McKinley School and Roger Ludlowe High School. In 1952 Arthur enlisted in the U.S. Navy along with five of his Tunxis Hill buddies proudly serving until 1956. Following his military service Arthur married his childhood sweetheart, Janet. Together they built their own house where they raised two loving children and enjoyed many wonderful years. Arthur worked for Frank Dawid Construction, and later on founded his own company, A. Rotunda & Son Construction, Inc. in Fairfield, now run by his son Jim. In his early years he loved to hunt and shoot skeet , but above all else, loved working and providing for his family. Survivors in addition to his loving wife and best friend, Janet include two beloved children: Kim Merly and her husband James of Fairfield and A. James Rotunda of Fairfield; six cherished grandchildren: Jesse, Josh and Troy Merly, Jimmy, Mary and Audrey Rotunda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 700 Old Stratfield Road, Fairfield. Interment with military honors will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery. Friends may greet the family Friday from 4-8 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. In lieu of flowers friends may consider a donation in Arthur's memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, care of the funeral home.
