Amy Thompson Curran

Amy Elizabeth Thompson Curran, age 42, of Fairfield, beloved and devoted mother of Bailey Curran and Maya Knutson, passed away Monday, January 7, 2019. Born in Bridgeport, the daughter of Ellen Kohnke Thompson of Fairfield and the late Robert Thompson, she had been a Fairfield resident for most of her life. She was a graduate of Fairfield High School and received her BS Degree and a Masters Degree in Mathematics from Fairfield University. Amy was a math teacher in both the Fairfield and Bridgeport school systems. She and Maya were devoted volunteers for T.A.I.L.S., an alliance to eliminate stray cats. Amy was a skilled educator with impeccable organizational skills. Her greatest joy however was spending time with her loving daughters and her wide circle of friends. In addition to Ellen, Bailey and Maya, Amy will be dearly missed by her loving sister, Kimberly Martin and her husband Scott of Stratford; her maternal grandparents, Sanford and Evelyn Kohnke of Fairfield; her cherished nephew and nieces, Braden, Kaylee, Riley and Vanessa; and her longtime boyfriend, Jason Rotzal of Bridgeport. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Fairfield. Interment will be private in Lawncroft Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 4-8 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. In lieu of flowers friends may consider a donation in Amy’s memory to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 661 Old Post Road, Fairfield, CT 06824.
